Please note that this form may only be completed by a registered, cleared, and active Troop Leader.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania is committed to ensuring every girl interested in Girl Scouts has the opportunity to join an active troop. This requires Troop Leaders to welcome new girls to their troop.
If you feel your troop cannot welcome any more Girl Scouts, we ask that you communicate with GSEP staff and Service Unit volunteers to address the barriers you may be facing that is preventing welcoming new girls.
Staff and SU volunteers can help Troop Leaders address common concerns, like: finding larger meeting spaces, recruiting additional volunteers and helping girls with higher support needs.
In some rare circumstances, there may be significant hardships and barriers that limit the number of new girls that can be added to a troop. If you feel adding Girl Scouts to your troop will create a significant hardship, we ask that you apply to have your troops omitted from the Opportunity Catalog. This will close the troop to new girls.
GSEP will review these requests and approve them on a case-by-case basis. Approvals are in effect for one year. Troop Leaders must apply annually.
Troop Size Defaults:
When GSEP sets up a new troop, it is created with a default
number of open spots for girls. Troops may expand up to the maximum
number of girls listed for each grade level. If a troop wishes to
exceed those maximums, they must add additional leaders to support the
larger group.
Level | GSEP Default: Total Girls in Troop (with 2 Leaders) | Maximum Number of Girls in Troop (with 2 Leaders) |
Daisy | 12 | 12 |
Brownie | 15 | 20 |
Junior, Cadette | 15 | 25 |
Senior, Ambassador | 15 | 30 |
