I have been a Girl Scout for 20 years starting as a Daisy! I always loved the trips my Girl Scout troop would take out into our community and to camp! One of my first camp memories was when I was staying at our Legacy Camp, Camp Tohikanee, it was my first week of staying at an overnight camp! It rained the whole week. But the rain did not stop me and my group from having fun, we sang as loud as we could as we traveled through camp, and we finished the week with putting on the Princess and the Pea for the whole camp. From this experience at camp, I knew that I wanted to keep going to camp! I saw how resilient camp could make me and as I became a CIT, I saw how I could help my campers overcome their own obstacles and even find how to make the most out of any situation. My favorite thing about camp is all the songs we sing! You do not have to be good at singing to sing along to silly songs.
Mountain House is a wonderful day camp that has a rustic feeling from the tents set up around the pavilion to the latrines. We have hybrid latrines as well for new campers that are like the flushable toilets you would find in a trailer. Mountain House is a place that feels like you are far away in the mountains when it is only 15 minutes from the center of Allentown.
