The Girl Scouts Get Started program is designed to ensure that girls in our 9-county footprint are aware of and have access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
Girl Scouts Get Started begins the Girl Scout journey with a free membership. Girls can also request assistance to purchase uniform components or to attend a summer camp adventure.
As part of Girl Scouts Get Started, girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Girls develop important life skills of goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics that will set girls up for success beyond anything they can imagine.
Additionally, regular participation in the Cookie Program enables girls to continue their Girl Scout experience now and in years to come by earning Cookie Dough Credits that can be used for membership renewal, program and camp registration, and to get their Girl Scout gear at GSEP shops and camp Trading Posts. As girls grow so do their opportunities to earn older girl credits that can be used for travel, membership, and support their silver and gold award projects.
Girls Scouts is not just what your girl does now, it is who she is and will become in the future.
Types of assistance for girls:
- Membership fee covered from start of new membership request to next Girl Scout Cookie Program to ensure girls have an opportunity to earn Cookie Dough. Financial Aid is prioritized for those who are getting started in Girl Scouts. It is not available for renewing Girl Scouts
- Shop certificate for uniform components
- Camp financial aid
Each assistance type is a one-time only benefit and you will be notified by email of acceptance. For membership registration, just select financial aid at payment to apply. To apply for camp financial aid, complete this form. To apply for a uniform shop certificate, click here. Assistance programs are available until funding has been exhausted.
GSEP also recognizes that families face hardships that make participation in Girl Scouting financially challenging. To apply for aid for renewing Girl Scouts due to financial hardship, complete the form.
In addition to Girl Scouts Get Started, girls may also be eligible to apply for one of our Camp Scholarships. Funds are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Registration for camp opens in December. We recommend registering for your camp session first to save your spot before applying for a Camp Scholarship.
