Take the Lead is GSEP's signature fundraising event honoring our community's most distinguished women whose leadership and professional achievements make the world a better place. Did you know that YOU can also participate in Take The Lead? There are a variety of lead roles available for Girl Scouts in grades 9-12. Do you like to sing? Do you have the gift of gab?  Or, are you looking for a leadership opportunity and a chance to learn from one of the amazing Take The Lead Honorees-there is something for every Girl Scout! In your interview you will be asked what role you would be most interested in. Cost of the program is $5/Girl Scout. Financial aid is available.

*Includes Take the Lead patch and rocker, snack at training/rehearsal, and dinner at a Take the Lead event. All lead roles require an interview for selection. A member of the Girl Experience team will reach out in October to set up interviews.

Lead Roles

  • NEW! Media Girl (Grades 9-12) - Are you an aspiring influencer? Do you love social media? If so, then apply to be a media girl for a Take the Lead event! Join GSEP's socia media team to capture the highlights from each event and show other Girl Scouts what it's like to take part in these inspiring events. Vlog the day away at training and the event. Media Girls will also learn media literacy skills, including Public Relations, and content creation. If you are interested in working in marketing one day, this is the perfect opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look!

  •

  • Coordinator (Grades 11-12) - This role is to help guide younger Girl Scouts in their supporting roles, lead rehearsals, and work closely with staff to make Take the Lead a success. This will include helping teach color guard, working with the chorus lead to organize the chorus members, and helping to encourage our Girl Scouts to network with the attendees.

  • Co-Chair (Grades 11-12) - Our Co-Chairs, will help plan and facilitate training, represent the Girl Experience at committee meetings, and support the event team on the big day. Our co-chairs will bring the Girl Scout energy to the events planning and help to bring the event to life!

  • Presenter (Grades 9-12) - This role will interview a Take the Lead honoree. Presenters will be paired with an honoree and will shadow a day in her life. After shadowing, Presenters will write a speech that will tell a story to the audience about how deserving this woman is for the Take the Lead Award.

  • Emcee (Grades 9-12) - Our Emcees will narrate the program and energize the audience. The emcees will be on stage during the whole program to help transition from speaker to speaker and keep the energy up throughout the program!

  •

  • Campership Lead (Grades 6-12) - This role will share camp stories with the audience and lead a live auction to help send more Girl Scouts to camp! Our Campership Lead will be on stage throughout the program and will be invited to the podium to speak on personal experience at camp and why the attendees should donate to the campership fund to bring more Girl Scouts to camp!
