Summary: The Service Unit Delegate/Alternate Delegate
represents the entire council at the Annual Meeting or any meeting
where Delegate business is transacted.
Term of appointment: One year, renewable upon election
Required Training: GSEP Delegate Training
Supervision: This position reports to the Service Unit Manager
Girl Scout Values
- I will role model Girl Scoout values to other volunteers and
girls and abide by the Girl Scout Promise & Law.
- I will
maintain current knowledge of the Girl Scout National Program
Portfolio, Volunteer Essentials, Safety Activity Checkpoints, and
GSEP Volunteer Policies.
- I will be available in the
community to answer questions and connect with new volunteers in a
positive and uplifting manner.
- I will communcate in a
respectful, prompt, and effective manner to peers and girls and
maintain confidentiality where necessary.
- I will
demonstrate confidentiality, dependability, honesty and
credibility
I understand my responsibilities are:
- I will elect Members of the Board of Directors, Officers of
the Board of Directors, Board Development Committee Chair, Board of
Development Committee members-at-large, and, triennially, National
Council Delegates for the National Council Session of GSUSA.
- I will approve Amendments to the Bylaws and to the Article of
Incorporation.
- I will take all other actions requiring a vote
of the council and conduct other business which may come before the
council.
- I will determine the general direction of Girl
Scouting within the jurisdiction of the council by responding to
reports and information from the Board of Directors.
- I can
understand reference documents for the position.
- I will
provide prompt notice to the council of any changes to their mailing
address or email address
- I will attend the council's Annual
Meeting, Delegate Meetings and Delegate Training
- I will
regularly attend Service Unit Meetings to understand and represent
the interests of the service unit.
- I will be at least 14
years of age at the time of election by the Service Unit
- I
am familiar with the democratic process
- I will ensure
Service Unit Manager submits offical Service Unit Election Results
form

others on current issues that involve their interests and needs
while having fun
- I will show personal integrity by
demonstrating dependability, honesty, and credibility
- I am

environments
- I will foster diversity by understanding,
respecting, and embracing differences
Volunteer Agreement:
I agree to meet the qualifications and fulfill the duties,
expectations and requirements as outlined above.
I agree to opt-in to emails and text messages from GSEP and GSUSA.
I agree to adhere to GSUSA guidelines involving the Girl Scouts
brand, copyright and trademark laws.
I am an approved volunteer with a current Girl Scouts of the USA
membership and GSEP background check on file (if over 18).
I have read the entire Service Unit Delegate/Alternate Delegate
Position Description and Agreement thoroughly, and I agree that I can
handle the responsibilities, I am qualified and competent, and that I
will uphold the code of conduct and volunteer agreements for this position.
