Hana Haseman grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, spending time exploring outside, getting messy, and enjoying nature. This upbringing led her to a life dedicated to getting people outside! While studying history and secondary education in college, she began working at summer camp and fell in love. She stayed at her first camp for seven years working as a counselor and moving up to an activity area manager, overseeing staff working challenge courses, hikes, and nature education. To continue her passion for teaching outdoors, she moved to Alabama to work at an environmental education center. Finally, she found an opportunity to come to GSEP and be the director at Laughing Waters. Her passion is to get young girls to camp and help them learn and grow.
With almost 500 acres to spread out in, Laughing Waters has a little something for everyone. There are opportunities to push your personal limits on our ropes courses and rock wall. You can try out new activities such as yoga, water aerobics, disc golf, horseback riding, and life sized Hungry, Hungry Hippos. Expand your artistic side with specific art programs, as well as themed arts and crafts projects, music programs, and nature art. Laughing Waters has other activities that will engage your excitement at every turn with archery, gaga, sports in the activity center, cooking, and a pool there is never a dull moment. Your week will be filled with excitement, adventure, growth, and connecting with other campers and the environment.
Laughing Waters is proud to have staff from all over Pennsylvania, the country and the world! Bringing together people of all backgrounds from across the world allows our staff and campers learn and experience new cultures and customs. Each year, the staff goes through a least two-week training, in addition on specialized activity training. Here they learn how to work with our campers. They learn games and songs, team building activities, conflict management, age level development, how to help with home sickness and much more. This training allows them to be prepped and ready to help our campers become girls of courage confidence and character that make the world a better place.

Our Favorite Tradition
Our favorite tradition
Laughing Waters had at least two all camp campfires each session, one to open our time together and one to close our time together. We sing songs, perform silly skits, and have fun, but we also have a special tradition called MAGI. MAGI, is when select group of our staff perform a trick over the fire to make it spark up. Its great fun and the more fun we have at camp the larger the fire becomes.

The impact of that experience will influence her as she moves forward in life. Thank you for offering this type of community for young women. The effects of it cannot be underestimated.” – Parent/Guardian of a 2019 camper
"Camp gets her away from technology and lets her be steeped for days in the outdoors & interpersonal relationships without technology. She gets to be with herself.
