We have included curriculum for girls and facilitator guides for you to use along with suggested timelines and list of materials needed.  Some of the programs even have supplemental handouts for girls!  So if you are looking for something to do with girls, other than sign up for one of the Programs in Spark, check out:

Be a Friend First

Be a Friend First (BFF) is designed to supplement the aMAZE! Journey. The aMAZE!Journey gives middle school girls valuable skills to develop healthy relationships, prevent bully behavior, and become peacemakers in their schools and communities. In BFF, girls get to explore thorny issues like peer pressure, stereotyping, gossip, and cliques through engaging role-plays, creative writing, games, and discussion exercises. They can also create and lead projects in their schools and communities to tackle bullying issues on their terms and turf! Healthy relationships are the solution to bully prevention. BFF inspires girls to lead one another—with friendship!

Free Being Me

“Did you know? Six out of ten girls stop doing something they love because they feel bad about the way they look*.” YOU have the power to change that!

Imagine a world where no one is worried about the way they look. A world where people are free to be themselves…We can’t get there without YOU!

GSEP is excited to be a part of a national grant program that will reach more than three million girls worldwide. The Free Being Me program is a one-of-a-kind program for girls in grades 2-10, co-created and sponsored by the Dove Self Esteem Project and the World Association. The program engages girls in fun and interactive activities around the themes of body confidence and self-esteem. Free Being Me is designed as a six session journey culminating with a Take Action project in which girls reach out to at least two other girls with their body confidence messages.

Using the Free Being Me program, together with the It’s Your Story-Tell It! Journey series, girls explore issues of beauty and body confidence and build their leadership skills.

Daisy Jam

Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania has designed a Daisy Jam program as an introduction to Girl Scouting for new Daisies. This is also a great resource for new Daisy Troop Leaders who need help getting started. This program could be used by Service Units over the summer or by Troop Leaders at the beginning of the year. Girls will learn about the various parts of the Girl Scout Law and how it plays a part in their daily lives. Additionally, girls will learn how to take care of their planet, help change the world around them, and then tell their own story to others through fun hands-on activities and projects incorporating activities from the Leadership Journeys.

Please note: This series does not replace the Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting or the Leadership Journeys.

Healthy Habits

In partnership with the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, Girl Scouts has developed three "healthy habits" booklets for volunteers to use in conjunction with the It’s Your Planet-Love It! Journey. The Healthy Habits booklets relate to the Journeys and encourage girls to lead active, healthy lifestyles.

These step by step leader guides promote fun, easy ways to achieve "energy balance" through
awareness of:

Energy In: the calories you get from eating and drinking.

Energy Out: the calories you burn from physical activities.

Science & Engineering Samplers

Do you and your girls want to explore and learn more about the fields of science and/or engineering? Would you like to promote the fields as career options for your girls? Are you looking for new activity ideas to use during troop meetings? Through fun, hands-on activities and experiments, the Science Sampler and Engineering Sampler programs expose girls to what is possible in the fields of science and engineering.

You don’t have to be a STEM expert to try science and engineering programs with your troops! These Ready-to-Run programs have all the instructions, supply lists and age-appropriate scientific explanations so you can have fun with the girls and introduce them to fields of interest where girls are underrepresented, and career opportunities abound!
