Girls in Governance- Call for Nominations- DEADLINE EXTENSION!

Girl Advisor to the Board of Directors

 

The position of Girl Advisor to the Board of Directors is a leadership opportunity for a current 10th and 11th grade Girl Scout to participate in the responsibilities of the Board and provide girls’ perspective on policy decisions to the Board. The position is a non-voting position and nominees will be elected by GSEP’s Delegate Council at the Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 16, 2015 for a one year term. Two or three girls will be selected to serve.

 

All interested girls should complete the application (docx version or pdf version) and provide two references (docx version or pdf version). The application and references must be received via email or postmarked no later than Friday February 27, 2015.

 

Girl Delegates

 

Girl Delegates will also be elected by the GSEP Delegate Council at the Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 16, 2015. This position is for a one-year term from the end of the Annual Meeting on May 16, 2015 through the end of the Annual Meeting in 2016. During their term, Girl Delegates become voting members of the GSEP Delegate Council. Girls may serve in this position for three consecutive terms. All girls must be a registered and active member of GSEP, age 14 or older at the time of their election. Girl Delegates are required to travel to three meetings a year. The Fall and Spring Delegate meetings are held locally in two locations. The Annual Council meeting is held council-wide in a central location. Delegates are expected to be open-minded and good communicators and expected to:

 

  • Share their knowledge with girls and adults involved in Girl Scouting;
  • Talk to girl and adult members to learn their opinions about governance issues important to Girl Scouts;
  • Share their opinions and suggestions in a positive and collaborative fashion at Delegate Meetings.

Annual Meeting and Spring Delegate Meeting Dates

 

Join us for the Spring Delegate Training and Meetings!  The Delegate Meetings will be held at two locations for your convenience. Registration can be done via Online Registration. Dates and locations are as follows:

 

Delegate Meetings:

  • Saturday, March 28, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM - Springfield Township Municipal Building, 50 Powell Road, Springfield, PA 19064 (Please note the time change!)

     
  • Tuesday, March 31, 7:00-9:00 PM - Reading Muhlenberg Career & Training Center, 2615 Warren Road, Reading, PA 19604 (Please note the date change!)

 

Delegate Training:

  •  Saturday, March 28, 8:00-10:00 AM - Springfield Township Municipal Building

Annual Meeting Information: The 2015 Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Philadelphia Convention Center prior to the #GirlPOP2015 event. Registration and event details will be announced shortly.  If you have any questions about the annual meeting, please email annualmeeting@gsep.org

 

 

Service Unit Delegates

According to GSEP's Bylaws - Article II, Membership and Delegate Council:

1. Membership. The Members of the Council will be members of Girl Scouts

of the U.S.A. (GSUSA), age 14 or older, and currently registered through

the Council.

2. Delegate Council. The Council will have a Delegate Council which will

consist of the following:

     a. Service Units Delegates. Delegates elected by Service Units to

     represent the entire Council.

     b. Additional Delegates. Additional elected Delegates, if any, as

     determined by the Board of Directors.

     c. Board and Board Development Committee. Members of the Board

     of Directors and those members of the Board Development Committee

     who are not otherwise members of the Delegate Council.

     d. Girl Advisors. Girl Advisors to the Board of Directors.

     e. Girl Delegates. Girl Delegates elected as determined annually by

     the board.
