Philadelphia Force Supports Cookies from Home, July 29th
On Wednesday, July 29, at Coca-Cola Stadium in Allentown, the Philadelphia Force fast-pitch softball team will support GSEP’s “Cookies from Home” project. For every ticket sold, the Force will donate $1 toward the purchase of Girl Scout cookies being sent to U.S. Troops overseas. First-season Force players will receive a Girl Scout cookie assortment during a “Cookies for the Rookies” presentation. A pre-game Birthday Bash for Belle, the Philadelphia Force mascot, includes a barbecue and a parade where Girl Scouts can march with the Phillie Phanatic. Girl Scout Camp Jam contestants will lead the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday.” Tickets to the barbecue are available for groups of 20 or more. To register your troop for the parade and for more information, contact Brenda Zuberka at bzuberka@gsep.org or 888.664.9770, x1521, or download the flyer.

Help the Veterans History Project
Is your troop interested in helping to preserve veteran's stories? The Veterans History Project uses volunteers to help collect personal accounts of American war veterans so future generations can benefit from their stories. Congressman Sestak's office is supporting these efforts, and invites Girl Scout troops to attend a workshop in Delaware County on July 7th, led by an oral historian trained by the Library of Congress. Represent GSEP in the Sunoco Welcome America 4th of July Parade
Attention Troop Leaders! You are cordially invited to march in the Sunoco Welcome America Philadelphia July 4th Parade on July 4, 2009 at 11:00AM in Philadelphia’s wonderful historic district! GSEP has already been accepted for participation, and we hope to have a large number of Girl Scouts representing our Council. The parade route is about one mile long, and will proceed in front of Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the National Constitution Center. The parade assembly area is in locations close to the parade start, in amongst shade trees, making for a pleasant assembly process. If your troop wishes to participate, please mail this application to the address on the form. In addition, please email Debbie Jacobson at djacobson@gsep.org so that we know you will be participating.
