Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) serves over 41,000 girls ages five through 17 in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, and Philadelphia Counties. GSEP was chartered on May 1, 2007. We are a volunteer-based non-profit organization with over 14,000 adult volunteers.
Girl Scouts of the United States of America was founded on March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. Nationally, nearly four million girls and adult volunteers enjoy the Girl Scout experience.

GSEP’s Strategic Plan
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, an “early adopter” of the realignment movement led by GSUSA, was created by a merger on April 28, 2007 between the Girl Scouts of Freedom Valley, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Great Valley Councils. The merger became effective on May 1. Thirty days later, the new Board of Directors convened for a three-day retreat to set forth the strategic goals for the new Council. Out of that retreat came five high-level goals to guide the work of the Council over the next year, and beyond. These are:
1. GSEP will strive to create a strategically focused, unified and effective organizational culture which has the capacity to achieve the Council’s goals and consistently deliver high quality experiences and outcomes for the girls.
2. GSEP will retain and grow girl and adult membership which is reflective of the demographics of the Council, is accessible through many pathways and inspires a life-long affiliation with Girl Scouting.
3. To meet the needs of its current and prospective members, GSEP will provide outstanding personal and leadership development programming which is mission-driven and girl-centric, and achieves desired outcomes.
4. GSEP will strive to transform the Girl Scout image by creating and demonstrating a compelling, relevant and contemporary brand identity that inspires girls, volunteers, strategic partners and funders to discover, connect and take action with Girl Scouts.
5. GSEP will build financial strength by diversifying and growing contributed income and earned revenues, and effectively manage financial resources.
