World Thinking Day

The suggested activities for earning a World Thinking Day patch complement GSUSA's leadership Journeys. World Thinking Day not only gives girls a chance to celebrate international friendships, but is also a reminder that GSUSA is part of a global community—one of nearly 150 countries with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. WAGGGS selected five countries of focus for World Thinking Day 2011 to represent the five WAGGGS regions: Bolivia (Western Hemisphere), Cyprus (Europe), Democratic Republic of Congo (Africa), Nepal (Asia/Pacific), and Yemen (Arab Region).

Below are the World Thinking Day Patch requirements for:

Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies and Juniors

Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors

The History Behind World Thinking Day

Each year on February 22, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world celebrate World Thinking Day. World Thinking Day was first created in 1926 at the 4th Annual Girl Guide/Girl Scout International Conference. Conference attendees decided that there should be a special day when Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all around the world think of each other and give thanks and appreciation to their ‘sister’ Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world.
