Real Girls. Real Power. Real Change.
![]() |
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania introduces a new program that will offer Girl Scouts unique ways to make a difference and take real steps towards changing the world. Real Girls, Real Power, Real Change will run from October 31, 2010 to Earth Day April 22, 2011 and the activities and projects can start at any time between those dates. Girls may become so interested in the topics that they'll feel empowered to work beyond these dates! By participating in the program girls will: |
- understand how they can help to make a difference in the world
- realize that one of these projects can be the start of a leadership journey that will lead to earning the highest awards in Girl Scouting--the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award
- discover the issues that face girls today
- connect locally with girls in Eastern Pennsylvania
- take action to make an impact, locally or globally

The Global Action Patch
Girl Scout Global Action patch activities are dynamic ways for girls to learn about critical world issues. By working on this patch, they are joining a worldwide effort to address issues that affect girls their own age.
The World Thinking Day Patch
The World Thinking Day theme for 2011 is “Empowering Girls Will Change Our World,” and aims to raise awareness of the situation for many girls and young women and empower them to take a stand against inequality. Click here to see the requirements for this patch.
The Global Action Theme Badge
The WAGGGS Global Action Theme Badge is a series of activities that help girls learn about poverty and related issues that affect them and their communities.
The Global Cinema Program
The Global Cinema Series is being offered in collaboration with the GSUSA-CARE partnership and Independent Television Services (ITVS) for girls in grades 9 -12. Through this exciting initiative, girls will choose the focus of their project(s) and advocacy as they develop as leaders and responsible global citizens.
We will also link activities to the Girl Scout Awards and Earth Day 2011. Please use the concepts and ideas in each curriculum along with your girls to determine what they want to do. Remember--Girl Scouts is girl led!
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Real Girls. Real Power. Real Change. is based on an initiative of Girl Scouts of the USA. Parents, guardians, and volunteers are urged to fully review all of the program activities in advance, and/or monitor girls’ participation to confirm that materials are appropriate for their age-levels and project focus.
