Nuts About Reading Program:
GSEP's Nuts About Reading Program allows girls and troops to get a jump-start on proceeds to support their program year by selling nuts, candy and magazine subscriptions. These items make great holiday gifts, and you’ll go NUTS about how easy it is!
Groups are encouraged to participate in Council Product Programs. Please note that troops wishing to do outside fundraisers must participate in the Cookie Program and the Nuts About Reading programs in order to qualify for approval of additional fundraising. During the course of the Council Product Programs, no outside fundraisers are permitted; any group money-earning should not compete with Girl Scout Product Programs.
What is the Nuts About Reading Program?
The Nuts About Reading Program is one of two product programs offered by GSEP. This program teaches girls about the 5 skills. These skills are Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills and Business Ethics. Along with teaching girls the 5 skills, this program enhances literacy through the sale of magazines that are available in a wide variety of topics.

Products Offered
A variety of gourmet candy and nut mixes, such as cashews, a cranberry nut mix, and pecan clusters are offered. The nut and candy varieties change annually. Also offered is a large assortment of magazines. Including popular titles, such as Everyday with Rachel Ray, Reader's Digest, and Ranger Rick.
This year's new products include:
6 oz Dark Chocolate Mint Penguins: Rich Dark Chocolate Penguins bursting with frosty mint. Price $6.00
6 oz Peanut Butter Bears: Milk Chocolate Bears with a smooth peanut butter filling. Price: $6.00
5.1 oz Dulce De Leche: Fresh, milky caramel surrounded by smooth milk chocolate. Price: $6.00
6.5 oz Holiday School House Village Tin: This is the last of the series for this collector’s tin. This tin contains a favorite sweet and salty snack—Chocolate Covered Pretzels. Price: $8.00
6 oz Girl Scout Mailbox Tin: This is the new collectors tin for 2012. This tin contains Mint Treasures, smooth milk chocolate with a hint of mint. Price: $8.00
9 oz Wasabi Almonds: Crunch Almonds roasted and coated with wasabi seasoning. Price: $6.00
2012 Nuts About Reading Program Closure
Late Orders
Late orders will be accepted until November 12, 2012. Late orders are especially appropriate for troops starting up late that would like to participate in the program. If you have late orders, please contact Amanda Harrity at aharrity@gsep.org or Jessica Menefee at jmenefee@gsep.org. Refunds
Refunds will be issued when the Nuts About Reading Program reconciliation process is complete. Please note: refunds will be processed by accounts payable through the ACH program. Prior to the release of the fund you will recieve an email stating the amount that you can expect to be returned to your troop.
