GSEP celebrates our 100th Birthday partnering with National Trails Day at Valley Forge National Park. June 2, 2012 - Valley Forge National Historical Park at the Betzwood Picnic Area from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This annual event is a long-standing celebration of America's magnificent trail systems and its countless supporters and volunteers. National Trails Day is celebrated in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The slogan for National Trails Day 2012, America's Largest TRAILgating Party, is an open invitation to all Americans to get outside and connect with local hiking clubs, community groups, and state and national parks.
This year the Girls Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania is partnering with the park with special activities and exhibits as we celebrate our 100th Anniversary. There will be a birthday cake ceremony at 9:00 a.m. Free programs will include guided hikes focusing on nature and history. Environmental organizations and conservation, health, and trails groups will offer educational clinics and presentations at outdoor exhibits. There will also be a showcase of the latest in outdoor equipment and gear. Groups may volunteer to help with trail maintenance as a service project. All ages are invited to participate. This is a good time for the family to enjoy a day together with their Girl Scout. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy afternoon activities in the park. Our bus will transport you where you want to get to until 5 PM.
Location: 1400 North Outer Line Drive, King of Prussia, PA 19046 Fee: Registration fee of $10 includes bus transportation around the park from 7:45 AM until 5 PM, a commemorative event Water Bottle, Lanyard for collecting “swaps” all day, a bag, a morning snack, birthday cake, “passport” to the days activities and Juliette Low Facts scavenger hunt game.
